Styling
The Alfa Romeo sports sedan proves that less is more with its simplistic, elegant design. A deep V bonnet that starts from the 159’s distinctive chrome grille forms the line from which the entire car is based. With circular light clusters, a sporty rear spoiler, twin exhausts and a choice of 16, 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels that are complemented by matching chrome door handles, the Alfa 159 boasts sport qualities that have become the signature styling for all Alfa Romeo models. And with bold, sleek contours that sweep across the entire sports sedan, giving it an aggressive stance, the 159 exudes a dominating presence on the road. When stepping into the spacious cabin of the Alfa 159, it’s hard to not be impressed with the car’s impeccably designed interior. A soft-touch leather textile embodies the lounging seats and new car buyers can choose from a selection of six leather colours. Sporty characteristics follow through to the interior of the vehicle with touches of chrome in significant places. The dashboard is focused around the driver’s seat with all vital information just below the driver’s eye-line. A top-of-the-range music system with radio and CD player, the quietness of the engine and automatic climate control ensure that you’re always driving in luxury.
 
Performance
The range of engines that powers the Alfa 159 is available in petrol derivatives with advanced technologies that favour the environment and fuel economy. The entry-level 1.9 JTS delivers 118kW of power, while the second from entry-level 2.2 JTS delivers 136kW and the superior 3.2 V6 JTS Q4 (with permanent four-wheel drive capabilities) is able to deliver up to 191kW when combined with a six-speed manual transmission. The JTS technology implemented in the three power-plants of the Alfa 159 is a direct stoichiometric injection unit that gives the engine a turbo boost while still maintaining low carbon emissions – an industry first for high-performance type engines.
 
Driving and handling
Driving and handling on the Alfa Romeo sports sedan is made effortless by its advanced engineering. The 159 has to pass through a series of strict tests to ensure that it fully represents the refinement of sports cars while still maintaining the luxury and confidence of an executive class sedan. The outer structure of the 159 is built of robust steel for maximum protection and a factory-tuned suspension system provides optimum support when the car is in motion. The double wishbone suspension ensures responsive driving which means that you’re always in control.
 
With five-star safety ratings from the Euro NCAP, the Alfa Romeo 159 flaunts superior safety features such as an Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, ISOFIX child-seat points, advanced electronic stability control systems and multiple airbags, including knee and window airbags.
